Together, we help cook up a better future
With the help of our partners, we are able to share the magic of cooking with families and kids across the country. Whether it be through recipe development or live-streamed Zoom culinary classes, we can tailor the knowledge that FamilyCook has to offer to any audience.

American Dairy Council – Fuel Up with Teen Battle Chef
For the past 8 years, the American Dairy Council Northeast has sought out FamilyCook Productions’ expertise on nutrition education and youth leadership. To help kids stay healthy and active during the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Dairy Council has partnered with FamilyCook Productions to livestream our award-winning Teen Battle Chef program straight into the kitchens of thousands of kids across seven states. Kids can sign up for FREE culinary classes on the Fuel Up to Play 60 website where they can compete for prizes and learn how to make delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes for themselves and their families.
DYCD + Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice
For the past 3 years, FamilyCook has partnered on an initiative with the Mayor’s Office for Criminal Justice to provide robust, multidisciplinary youth programming for adolescents in the highest-crime public housing communities. When young people have engaging and meaningful activities, they can feel safe, supported, and connected to strong role models in their community. Our Teen Battle Chef program is an ideal model, because it is turnkey and allows for the expertise to be acquired by the adult mentors within each Cornerstone program. These are the mentors who know the youth and their community. This program has built success among the relationships between local youth and law enforcement; police officers often serve as “judges” of the youths’ cooking battles!
YES COLLABORATIVE
New York City’s response to the COVID-19 crisis has included a rapid transition to remote learning. Complicated and varied across a huge education system, there is a need to systematically address young people’s needs at all ages of development–infants and toddlers, pre-K, elementary and middle school students, and teens and young adults.
In the context of a new reality of providing early work experiences for teens during Summer 2020, the YES Collaborative looked to FamilyCook Productions’ experience with digital learning to offer culinary classes to kids in the Bronx to re-inspire NYC’s young people through the Youth Empowerment Summer or YES program. Over the course of five weeks, we were able to transform 250 youth into master chefs through our Teen Battle Chef online curriculum.
Supplemental Nutrition assistance program – SNAP-Ed Toolkit
In 2019, Teen Battle Chef was added to the SNAP-ED toolkit. Our evidence-based intervention was vetted and approved to help households throughout the United States make healthier eating choices for middle and high school students.
