Teacher using felt pieces
Let Willow do the work!
Families getting Willow involved
-Engage with Willow as a mime! Whether an adult or child is using the puppet, pretend Willow has a tiny voice that only the one who is operating her can hear. Hold Willow’s face to your ear and pretend you are hearing what she has to say. This helps children to pause, ‘listen’ and use their imagination as they await your ‘translating’ what Willow wants to tell them.
-Use the felt pieces to engage children. Talk about the weather, the season, and the yummy vegetables that Willow grows in her garden. Willow can help you pull the felt pieces from the pockets and make it a guessing game for children to name the items. Use different felt pieces related to the day’s weather and what you will cook!
-Read the story and make Willow’s recipes!
